It’s probably no surprise to know that J,R Tolkien was inspired by Iceland’s gothic landscape ,also its culture to be inspired to write his collection of novels .You don’t have to look far , the second largest waterfall in Europe are the Gullfoss located on the furthest point of the “Golden circle” .While the Falls in all their entirety are completely image worthy , often missed are the smaller features. I have to say smaller this image covers 60 ft of height ! But there is a back story , and this is stitch of the fabric that I love to capture . This part of the waterfall never really gets the sun all winter , always in the shade , so the layers of ice ,built up in layers into a Gothic structure formed from the perpetual freezing mist generated by the falls . Don’t hang this in your bathroom , your heating bill will be sure to rise .
