Walking around beaches and harbours really allows mean to get my creative part of my mind in the ‘zone’ . Rarely am I fighting the elements ,and it’s usually early in the morning,and I’m next to the sea ,(I know ,obvious !) but the beach ,sea scapes harbours and the like are unique places on our planet , there are few places that are so diverse within a few yards of each other ,in both flora & fauna . Likewise the effects on natural materials from one to the other that occurs no where else ,than where they collide at the high tidemark .
One of which is wood , it’s texture in its eventual progressive decay , becomes pitted and textured and beautifully silvered ,almost platinum in colour . Edges are rounded ,grain is deepened . This example caught my eye on a morning walk ,it’s relationship with the wall is slowly ebbing away on every high tide .
