I really enjoy encouraging others the principles of Landscape photography, such as there are. The foremost is, Walk around! Explore, get lost even!
In 2018 I drove around the whole of Iceland in a clockwise direction, for those who don’t know, that’s just one road, aptly known as highway one. Problem is the geological views are fairly covered by previous photographers, the only constant is the change of weather.
There is another aspect that is largely overlooked is looking occasionally checking the landscape in your rear view mirror (caution required here ) and the humility to turn around for another look.
This is what happened here. I noticed the boat out the corner of my eye (the road is on the upper left next to the sea) when a minibus of Japanese photographers exited the vehicle took a few snaps and then went their merry way! They travelled 5,500 miles only to miss an image by 300 yards. Not really a successful trip was it.
The moral of this tale… “walk around”!
