Quite often a moment of atmosphere or location is caught in time , those moments can be fleeting ,no more than seconds or minutes at best .That’s what artists who capture the landscape in whatever medium they use ,aim for , that moment in time that makes the hairs on the back of your neck rise .
This was one of those moments taken a minute or so before the sun set behind Helvelyn on the other side of the valley a few miles away and a snow heavy cloud unloaded it cargo on the scene (and me ! ) .
I returned to the car at Hartsop a couple of miles away with a smile and a sadness that it’s unlikely that this moment would never happen again .But who knows ,it could get better ?
