After a days cross country skiing on the plateau behind the Langdale Pikes, I noticed that the February sun had warmed this huge rock up and had melted the snow that had nestled up to it creating a black shadow, as well as the side lighting making a contrasting shadow by the setting sun in the West. But the icing on this cake was the crescent moon in the distance, that just made the image. Just a trick as to whether an item should be in an image, just cover it with your finger, does it still work?
I have to say the the moon has been enlarged in Photoshop! Yep I know! I just had my compact Contax T2, a longer lens at a greater distance would have been better.
Hindsight is not an exact science.
