For generations photographers were limited to image making from the ground . With the exception of a favoured few , most could not afford Ariel means either by plane or helicopter to capture the landscape .
From 2018 ,enter the drone ! Controlled by your smart phone ,limited to 400ft altitude and 4miles horizontal range , this is now a part of the Photographers arsenal.Patterns ,textures & features of the landscape is now accessible, with of course the obligatory respect for local country Bylaws.
I have to say Iceland has the most common sense when it comes to this . Most will give permission in most places , with an application on an online permit that is returned in sometimes minutes . Even in some of the national parks , if not it is for a very good reason . It’s an example the nation trust can learn from.
