The Eystrahorn

The Eystrahorn, South Iceland

This is an area I will always return to if I’m within 80 miles, night or day, of course if the weather is right, that means more or less any weather save for a hurricane!

This area experiences a wide variety of weather, cold, wet, winds from all direction, mists from the sea, acidic clouds from an active volcano, in this case the Bárðarbunga subglacial volcano. (Yep I was taking northern light images when the clouds came over, wondered why my eyes were sore the next day!) oh and Reindeer. My favourite conditions are a steady northerly arctic wind and low clouds casting shadows over the area.

On this occasion it was glorious sunlight with relatively light wind perfect for sending my drone up. The resultant image is taken from 400ft captures the essence of the location of this unique peninsular, this one’s on my wall A2 size.
