Of all my most memorable adventures ,the drive around Iceland tops the list ! In all it took about 3 days and I clocked up 1,600 miles about a third driving on ice ,with a few dirt tracks thrown in for good measure . This image was taken as a predicted snow storm was approaching as I was was weaving through the eastern fjords that are ringed by the perimeter road ,highway” 1 “ that encircles the whole island . This was the last image taken for a couple of hours , as you might see the contrast is slightly enhanced , but purely to enhance the existing atmosphere for the viewer . An hour in and no photographs were possible as both hands were tightly gripping the steering wheel !
